Welcome to the Old Barn Day Nursery, Banstead

The Old Barn Day Nursery is an Ofsted rated Outstanding private day care Nursery located in Banstead.  The Nursery is situated in a beautiful listed building on Woodmansterne Lane, and cares for children aged 0-3 years. Children attending our Nursery move onto our sister Pre-Prep, which is located on the High Street in Banstead. The Nursery is conveniently located for access to local towns and cities via the M25 and there is easy access by train for travel into London.

Our philosophy is that every child we care for deserves a calm, caring, safe and stimulating environment in which to learn.

Taking care of our staff’s wellbeing is of prime importance to us and we are proud to have been voted the 14th best place to work in the whole of the UK.

We adhere to our registration on the Ofsted Early Years Register. This monitors the overall quality standards of the early years provision in line with the principles and requirements of the ‘Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage’.

We are pleased to report that some of our children have returned to Nursery following the relaxation of social distancing measures by Government. We recognise that this is a worrying and confusing time for parents of young children and that some of the information in the media may add to your anxiety.

The Nursery is satisfied, having completed our own comprehensive risk assessment, that it is as safe as possible for our children and our staff to re-open and return but we are alert to the ongoing risks. We have reached this conclusion after careful examination of the data at a local level, a detailed reopening plan based on advice from Public Health England (PHE) and an evaluation of the risk to our staff, based on their health and household risk factors. The R score being widely reported for the UK, provides comfort that the pandemic is being controlled. However, we thought it would be helpful to provide you with additional information on the more localised picture.

LEARNING
Our main aim is to provide a secure and happy environment where children can learn through play.
SETTLING IN
Your first settling in sessions will give you and your child an opportunity to get to know your child’s key person.
OUTDOORS
We regularly offer opportunities for learning outdoors – giving children the freedom to explore and be physically active.
NUTRITION
Our menus are designed by the nursery chef and a paediatric dietician to meet the needs of each age group.
Fantastic nursery, the staff are all so lovely and welcoming. My 10 month old started in February and is doing really well there. They have excellent attention to detail, including the diary which contains so much information for parents to read on how their child is doing each day, great choice of food and a real personal touch with each baby.
My daughter goes on regular outings to the local park or library and takes part in event days to support charities such as ‘Children in Need’ as well as daily activities to support her learning and development. We would highly recommend The Old Barn to friends/family and we are very happy and believe we made the right choice.
A lovely nursery with a family feel, completely happy and confident leaving my child in their care.
My daughter loves attending this nursery. It is set up as a ‘home from home’ with friendly staff, helpful management and excellent facilities.
The Old Barn Day Nursery is a warm and caring environment for children to play and learn. The staff are caring and positive and help the children to reach their full potential. My son loves coming to nursery and often has a smile on his face when I collect him.

  • A range of bespoke activities which promote your child’s well-being and confidence, including Emotions Boxes and Chatterboxes
  • Garden Champions (RHS School Awards Levels 1 & 2) – our gardening activity which is supported by the Royal Horticultural Society’s School Gardening Awards training programme.
